About

I'm a structural engineering professional and Engineer-in-Training based in the Los Angeles area — currently designing real structures as an intern at Hohbach-Lewin Structural and Civil Engineers.

My path into engineering has been a wide one — from physics research and environmental work to hands-on structural design. I'm pursuing dual bachelor's degrees in Structural Engineering at UC San Diego and Engineering Physics at Biola University. I passed the FE Civil exam in 2025 and earned my EIT in early 2026 — the first steps toward full PE/SE licensure.

I care about sound load paths, buildable details, and clear communication with everyone on a project team. Good structure is rarely seen — but it's always felt.

Experience

Jun 2025Present

Structural Engineering Intern

Hohbach-Lewin Structural & Civil Engineers — South Pasadena, CA

  • Modeled and ran lateral analyses in RISA-3D using ASCE 7 load combinations, seismic forces, and wind pressures.
  • Designed lateral force-resisting systems — moment frames, shear walls, diaphragms — plus chord, collector, and bolt connections.
  • Sized joists, beams, and columns in Enercalc, balancing structural integrity against cost.
  • Built spreadsheets for pad-footing design, equipment anchorage, and overturning checks.
  • Produced calc packages with clean plans, AutoCAD details, and traceable load paths; logged ASCE 7-16 → 7-22 changes.

Engineering Pathways Intern (GS-5)

US Environmental Protection Agency — Los Angeles, CA

  • Inspected large-quantity generators for RCRA hazardous-waste compliance across four evaluation reports.
  • Drafted Expedited Settlement Agreements enforcing standards, totaling $20,000+ in penalties.

Operations & Maintenance Engineering Intern

Orange County Sanitation District

  • Organized 2,000+ equipment service manuals by loop tag, cutting sort time by 50%+.
  • Authored a 40-page intern handbook adopted as a reference for future interns.

Research & Teaching Roles

Biola University — TA, tutor, directed research

  • Built a 3D-printed protective encasement for an Arduino PPG sensor for deep-vein-thrombosis detection.
  • TA and mentor across physics, astronomy, and mathematics; tutored 5–10 students weekly.
